Silicon carbide technology has secured its place in power electronics in a hurry. The advantages are obvious, even though the material is rather difficult to handle. At this year's Intersolar trade fair, SiC solar inverters hit the market on a broad scale.
The silicon carbide technology and further optimisations ensure that 020K-SCI performs better than its relatives from the standard inverter series »008K« to »020K«. Due to transistors based on silicon carbide, a semiconductor with lower circuit losses than silicon transistors commonly used in power electronics, a suitable efficiency factor can be reached across the whole output and input voltage.
REFUsol also increased the performance of the transformerless device to up to 20 kW AC. In addition, the premium solar inverter performs without noise and can be operated in high temperature environments. Further characteristics include an input voltage range from 490 V to 800 V, MPP tracking and a weight of 40 kg.
»REFUsol 020K-SCI combines modern state-of-the-art technology with a broad field of application. With an efficiency factor of 98.7 percent, the new solar inverter belongs to the most efficient devices in its class and offers an outstanding performance,« claims Jochen Hantschel, Head of Technology Development at REFUsol.
