Not least the EuP directive, commonly known as Ecodesign, forcing energy efficiency everywhere has boosted general awareness signifcantly. Not only enormous energy savings potentials in various applications are possible but also reduced system costs are driving factors. Green Automation

The German Engineering Federation VDMA is going to present at this year’s Automatica trade fair together with the show organizers its "Green Automation" initiative. Automatica takes place in Munich June 8-11, 2010.

Control gear for VUV lamps

Osram’s new electronic control gear (ECG) DBD 300/110-240 DIM has been designed for the 30W to 300W performance range. A pulsed operation enables control of VUV-emitting Xeradex excimer lamps, the output of which can be continuously regulated from 10% to 100%. This is supposed to facilitate integration and adaption of Osram’s Xeradex lamps in production systems, where the are used for the surface treatment of semiconductor materials or in display or solar cell production.
