An important station of many industrial automation systems is the product packaging - be it in electronic component manufacturing or in food processing. Especially industries with a very diversified product spectrum require flexibility in this area.
Within the packaging process the Multivac conveyor systems (MBS) perform a variety of pack infeeding, discharging and separating functions after the packaging procedure. So that customers can also in future retrofit these to their packaging machines, the manufacturer has extended its product range with two stand-alone versions: the MBS 120 and 220 are equipped with a separate IPC 02 machine control and they work independently of upstream or downstream systems. The two conveyor systems can therefore be used and retrofitted particularly flexibly within existing packaging solutions. Their machine control can be synchronised with that of the thermoforming packaging machine.
The two MBS 120 and 220 conveyor systems are suitable for pack converging after the packaging procedure, as well as for the ejection of reject packs. They can be extended from two up to six lanes and are able to converge up to 80 or alternatively 140 packs per minute. The conveyor systems are equipped with change cassettes with hygiene-compatible rubber belts for easy format conversion.
Both stand-alone versions are equipped as standard with a blue ThermoDrive feed conveyor from Intralox, which is particularly suited for hygienic applications in the food processing industry. The guided side belts ensure a controlled converging process.
Both stand-alone versions are designed for pack ejection on an individual lane basis and this is carried out by the retraction conveyor. The systems are designed in Multivac's Hygiene Design and this therefore simplifies the cleaning and disinfection process.
