Come on chaps, start digging!!Avnet Logistics is building a new 32,000 sq ft warehouse at its Poing headquarters and the worthy gents seen here volunteered for the first shift, otherwise known as the groundbreaking ceremony.
The new cent re will replace the existing 25,000sq ft facility, and should be operational by 2011 to ship products and provide programming services to customers across Europe.
"The new logistics centre will dramatically increase our service flexibility and productivity and lead the way forward for Avnet’s global logistics strategy in the 21stcentury,” comments Ludger Tillmann, vice president, Avnet Logistics, EMEA. “We decided to build the new centre in Poing principally because of the extensive expertise already available on site, and the proximity to the Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA headquarters was an additional consideration.”
Patrick Zammit, president Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, adds: “The new warehouse will increase the breadth of logistics services we can provide to customers and suppliers, while making our product handling more innovative and efficient. It will also underpin Avnet Electronic Marketing EMEA’s growth strategies in the years to come.”
