First Cut: Roy Vallee, Chairman and Chief Executive of Avnet makes possibly on of his more difficult decisions - where in tarnation do I cut this cake?! This remarkable confection of cake, chocolate frosting and other waistline inflating ingredients was made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Avnet being listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Roy Vallee also had the privilege of ringing the closing bell at the NYSE.

"It's a building that is old by US standards and with the buzz of the trading floor and the knowledge that 170 million people watch the closing ceremony worldwide, that's a real adrenaline rush," said Vallee.

"It was also a privilege to be the CEO of a company like Avnet and represent my 17,000 teammates in the company whose efforts enabled me to be standing there."

Avnet is only one of 350 companies to have been listed on the NYSE for 50 years.
