Mouser Electronics has signed Intersil to a global distribution agreement.
“It’s another big line for us,” commented Mark Burr-Lonnon (pictured), vice president, EMEA business for Mouser. “We continue to build our semiconductor product base. If you look back we signed National just before the TI acquisition last year, and we have done $22m in business on Maxim products in the past 18 months.”
“We will continue to strengthen the semiconductor portfolio. We should be able to announce another major signing in the next month, and two more by the end of the year,” he added.
The agreement with Intersil adds amplifiers, power modules, analog multiplexers, FET drivers, PWM controllers, interface ICs, switches and video ICs.
“Mouser has decades of experience as a trusted, authorised distributor of leading edge components for design engineers,” says David Loftus, Senior Vice president of Worldwide Sales and Corporate Marketing at Intersil. “This global agreement will allow us to expand our customer base with Mouser’s best-in-class service and streamlined logistics.”
Intersil joins a growing business in Europe. Burr-Lonnon reported a 20% sales increase this year in a sluggish European market for electronic components. France posted a 24% increase, Spain notched a 27% increase and Italy is up 23%. UK sales have grown 19% and German business is up 16%. Burr-Lonnon is optimistic for the rest of the year despite economic uncertainty surrounding the ongoing debt crisis in Europe and recent economic challenges for China.
Mouser has nine local offices in Europe, with Poland likely to be the next location to be established. Investment has also been made in the search engine optimisation at Mouser’s European headquarters in Munich.
