The Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the Environment 2010 organised by Cobham Technical Services will take place at the Sheraton Skyline Hotel, London Heathrow Airport on November 17-18.
A raft of experts from around the world have been signed up to present at the event. It starts with Davide Minotti from the UK's DEFRA rounding up the latest developments on ecodesign policy for Energy using Products(EuP) including a look at labelling standards in Europe, UK compliance policy, UK supply chain initiatives and an international update, looking outside the EU.
Dr Johan Nouwen from the European Chemicals Agency will look at the Challenges for article producers and importers under REACH and Debra Huntingdon from the UK Department Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) will update delegates the status of the WEEE recast.
From industry Keith Bushell of Airbus will brief the conference on REACH and managing obsolescence in the aircraft industry and the REACH Defence Exemtpion will be discussed by Terry Palmer from Lockheed Martin. Hewlett- Packard's Kirstie McIntyre will take Waste 2020, a vision of the future as her theme.
Day Two is chaired by Gary Nevison, Premier Farnell's Head of Legislation. He will oversee presentations which include DaeYoung Park from Young and Global Partners reviewing the implementation of RoHS and WEEE legislation in China, Japan and Korea, while Katja Biedenkopf will talk on substance restrictions and waste policy in the US.
Beatrix Pook from Texas Instruments Deutschland will look at the impact of REACH on semiconductor manufacturers and the steps the industry is taking to address these issues.
Among the organisations endorsing the event are afdec, the UK's distributor association, the Japan Business Council in Europe, Spectaris, the German Industry Association for the Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies and TechAmerica Europe.
