Premier Farnell has launched the latest version of CadSoft’s EAGLE software, Version 5.10.0.
This version incorporates “DesignLink”, giving electronic design engineers (EDEs) flexibility to manipulate component data. Designers can ‘cut and slice’ information. EDEs will be able to write user language programs (ULPs) to price a schematic under development, as well as the ability to update previously existing designs with pricing and availability. Not only that, EAGLE users can write a ULP to select and add component attributes.
The software is now available from element14, Premier Farnell’s technology eCommunity for EDEs, bringing Web 2.0 to engineers along with over 10,000 technical documents and software tools. Users can find the DesignLink credentials required directly from the element14 website. These credentials are time limited but users can renew them free of charge. All versions of EAGLE including the FREE licence edition ‘Freemium’ contain DesignLink.
The Chinese version of the software will now automatically install Mandarin versions of the manual, as well as a tutorial on computers where it is the default language. Additionally, Mandarin and Hungarian menus are available.
“The addition of DesignLink to EAGLE is a great step for us. When we purchased CadSoft, some engineering bloggers doubted our commitment to the free versions of the software. In a short time we have now introduced three new versions, introduced a far more powerful Freemium version and have now implemented DesignLink which massively increased usefulness for the EDE,” said David Shen (pictured), global head of technical marketing at Premier Farnell.
