Green was appointed to her present role just over four years ago. She has reshaped the company's strategy with a greater emphasis on serving electronic design engineers, and the use of eCommerce and the internet to interact with the company's customer base.
The company has also raised its corporate responsibility profile with a number of green initiatives including biodegradable packaging which has won an Environmental Product of the Year Award. It was awarded Carbon Trust Standard earlier this year and is a sponsor of the Power of One solar car. Last week Premier Farnell was awarded Platinum on the Business in the Community Corporate responsibility Index with a score of 96 per cent.
The company is also sponsoring three athletes with a disability as they train for the 2012 Paralympics in London. It also stages an annual Live EDGE Electronic Design Awards, a global competition for design engineers and students.
Before joining Premier Farnell, Green held a number of senior executive posts at Arrow Electronics including president, Asia/Pacific operations and senior vice president for worldwide marketing and supplier relations. Before joining Arrow in 1994 she was managing director of UK-based distributor, Macro Group.
Green is also a member of the UK's Electronics Leadership Council which was formed in October 2005 to support the strategy for innovation and growth in the UK electronics industry.
