Electrocomponents has named a new general manager, Group IS.
He is Phil Cook and he joins the distributor from British American Tobacco (BAT) where he was Group chief information officer. In this role, Phil developed the IT strategy for the Group which spans 180 countries and 55,000 employees.
He has also been vice president and chief information officer for Brown and Williamson Tobacco (a subsidiary of BAT), with 6,000 employees and $3.2bn market capitalisation. Before joining BAT, Cook worked for Honda as their European IT manager.
