Farnell has been scrutinising customer buying habits and acted to add 9000 commodity products to its inventory.
Among the manufacturers supplying products are Texas Instruments, Tyco Electronics, Vishay, Panasonic and Epcos.
Farnell's aim is to give engineers more choice in the design process, and it says it took some care in selecting this latest raft of products and how they relate to customer requirements. These latest additions bring the total number of products in the Farnell inventory to over half a million. The company says it expects to add 100 a day going forward.
Says Mike Buffham, director of supplier and product management at Farnell, "The electronics industry continues to be an incredibly fast changing and innovative market sector. Our design engineering customer base is always seeking the latest components and technologies to give them an edge and to meet the tough demands of their customers. We see our job to reflect this in the type and choice of components we offer backed by support that makes the best use of functionality the internet can offer."
