The two companies co-sponsored the media production course at the University of Chichester in West Sussex, UK and set the students the task of creating fun viral videos incorporating semiconductors and other electronic components to promote Acal Technology.
The criteria including production quality and the likelihood of the video spreading virally. A panel of judges from Acal and Napier decided the winner of £100 worth of iTunes vouchers.
The videos had to be produced in just four weeks with help and guidance from Napier managing director Mike Maynard. The resulting videos caught many of the technologies supported by Acal. M2M featured in 'The Machines are Talking' and semiconductors starred in 'Evolution of Electronic Design'.
But as they say at all the best awards, "there can only be one winner", so Jasper Chiwuzie and Georgie Khalid took home the vouchers with their video 'Not Just Any Component' inspired by the successful Marks & Spencer campaign.
Announcing the winners Simon Rush, divisional sales and marketing information manager for Acal Technology commented, "The project was a great success. The students have done a great job in producing professional quality videos for Acal. Although the teams came up with different ideas, each have successfully captured the technologies that Acal distributes in some unique and fun ways.
All the videos are being used in Acal Technology's e-mail marketing campaigns and can be found on YouTube at http://youtube.com/ACALTech.
