The promotion is effective immediately and Smith will report to Arthur Nadata, executive chairman and interim chief executive officer of the distributor.
Smith has notched seven years at Nu Horizons where he has held a series of sales roles each carrying more responsibility. He was appointed senior vice president of sales, Americas, and in 2008 took another step up the career ladder when he he was named executive vice president, of worldwide sales and marketing.
"Kent has played a key role in driving our sales growth through the economic challenges of the previous year," said Nadata. "His experience coupled with his leadership skills and ability to motivate and continually develop our sales and engineering teams provide him with a strong foundation to build upon the success of our company." In his new role he will continue to focus on forging strong relationships with customers and suppliers and further strengthening our position around the world as a leading demand creation distributor."
