Tony Frere (pictured), a co-founder of DT Electronics in 1988 along with Geoff Rose and David Zelkha will be leaving as UK managing director of Nu Horizons, the company which acquired DT Electronics two years ago.
Frere and his compadres built DT Electronics into an £18m company through an emphasis on specialist technical design support. The company's initial specialisation was in the broadcasting market, and while its customer horizons widened in more recent years (no pun intended) it remained the UK's leading component supplier into the broadcast industry. It has a clutch of customer and supplier awards to emphasise the point.
Arthur Nadata, executive chairman and acting chief executive officer of Nu Horizons, added: "Tony did a great job of building DT Electronics into a successful and highly respected business. Since the firm became part of Nu Horizons, he has been instrumental in building a team that will continue the values of the company he founded - great technical support and a passionate commitment to customer service."
Frere's successor has not yet been named but Phil Gee, vice president, sales, Europe, will run the Coventry-based
That's an intriguing response Tony, I'll keep in touch. Not managing Coventry City in the gap year, are you?
