The plaudits have been flying about in the past week. Individuals and companies have been clapped and back slapped up to various podiums to accept awards.
Let's kick off with TTI's product and supply marketing director Andy Kerr. He led the TTI team in what Epcos has named as the Best Distribution Launch in 2009. The award follows Epcos signing TTI in April this year.
Commented Dietmar Jaeger, senior director distribution sales: "As the main driver of the successful launch Andy Kerr is very deserving of this award. Within a very short space of time we have built up a close relationship between our two companies right across Europe, and even more importantly, we have already generated a good volume of business"
A modest Andy Kerr responded: "I gratefully accept this award on behalf of TTI in Europe. And I would also like to thank our partner's sales and marketing product team and the TTI European team who have made this launch a success. This award marks the beginning of a great partnership."
In Chicago the great and the good gathered for the NEDA Annual Executive Conference where Avnet's Phil Gallagher was presented with the Gail S Carter award. This recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to the distribution industry, have taken an active role in NEDA and civic affairs and are recognised by the industry as leaders.
NEDA president Brian McNally of Arrow Electronics presented the award. He praised Gallagher's contributions to distribution including a seven-year stint on NEDA's board. He was president of NEDA from 2005 to 2007.
Texas Instruments and Tyco Electronics went home from Chicago brandishing NEDA Manufacturer of the Year awards. They were both recognised as companies which best exemplified the spirit of cooperation in the distribution industry.
Mark,
Thanks for the update on Andy, and Andy, if you read this, best of luck in the new role.

Saw your note on Andy Kerr of TTI. I am pleased to announce that he has now joined the Mouser team (a TTI Company). He joins us in Texas to spearhead our Global Passives Marketing. He is a very welcome addition to our team

Just to add to the list, Newark (Farnell's North American sister distributor)took home the most NEDA marketing awards (10) In the last 7 years, we've had 77...the most of any other entrant.
