Avnet continues to march the acquisition trail. It has snapped up the UK-based Spectre (Communications) business.
Spectre is a specialist communications and wireless solutions based in Coalville, Leicestershire. With effect from today the business will be integrated into the Avnet Memec UK business.
Steve Haynes, president Avnet Memec commented: "The wireless market is a key growth driver within our component industry and the acquisition of Spectre with their knowledge of Bluetooth, WLAN, GPS, TETRA, ISM and antennas will strengthen Avnet Memec's market position as the wireless and RF specialist across Europe."
Added Patrick Zammit, president of Avnet Electronics Marketing, EMEA, "The acquisition will not only strengthen Avnet's position with Laird Technologies, but also add new RF and wireless suppliers, such as CSR, CML and Antenova."
The Spectre linecard also Sierra Wireless, 2J Antenna, Polstar, Telecom Design, GP Batteries and Varta.
