Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the Environment 2009 is organised by Cobham Technical Services which is the business arm of ERA Technology.
REACH, RoHS, WEEE and the Eco-Design Directive are all topics on the conference agenda and they will be addressed b y a stellar line up of speakers.
Dr Johan Neuwen from the European Chemical Agency will review the progress on the implementation of REACH, and he will be followed by Dr Philip Hope from Cefic who will look at the interaction between REACH and the RoHS Directive. Feodora von Franz of TechAmerica Europe will then take on the RoHS baton and present on progress so far and what needs to be done in the future.
The Eco-design Directive will be taxing many minds so Davide Minotti of DEFRA will discuss enforcement plans, present an overview oe regulations that are in place or pending and their impact on industry and the environment.
The important subject of E-Waste and developing sustainable and responsible treatment in the developing world will be debated by David Grantham from Reclaimed Appliances and the University of Northampton's Dr Margaret Bates.
The second day will be chaired by Premier Farnell's Gary Nevison and will include a review of WEEE, RoHS and EuP developments in the US. Also on the agenda will be the role of voluntary initiatives, particularly in IT infrastructure and REACH in Asia.
