Spoerle and Sasco are to be united under the Arrow brand name in Central Europe. Spoerle was founded in 1967 by Carlo Giersch who built the company into the largest distributor in Central Europe. Giersch incidentally had a distinct style of management. Any memo - in those pre-computer days - of over one page was despatched straight to the waste bin! Without an heir to take on the company and with a keen regard to ensure his employees future, Giersch eventually sold a minority stake in Spoerle to Arrow in 1985. He continued to sell his shares to Arrow over the ensuing years, while keeping the Spoerle brand to the fore in Central Europe. The company's stand at Electronica dominated the hall, and was always packed to the gunwales. He retired from the business in 2002.
Eric Schuck continues as general manager of Arrow Central Europe and the company's headquarters will be in Dreieich.
Said Schuck, "The new uniform organisational structure creates consistent processes which enable us to offer our customers even more efficient logistics solutions. With this strategic step we have fused the size of a broadline distributor with the expertise of a specialist, and therefore assume a truly unique position in the European distribution market."
