Harriet Green, chief executive officer of Premier Farnell has been named in the Financial Times Top 50 Women in Global Business.
Green is placed at number 36 and along with Chua Sock Koong of Singapore Telecommunications is the only woman from the electronics industry to feature in the top 50.
Green joined Premier Farnell as CEO two and a half years ago. She had previously held a string of senior executive positions at Arrow Electronics, including stints as head of worldwide marketing and president of the company's Asia/Pacific operations.
Since joining Premier Farnell Green has shaken up the company strategy. There is more focus in engaging with electronic design engineers and the company's online strategy has been revitalised. In Europe 55 per cent of sales arrive online and in Asia/Pacific the percentage is 42 per cent. Earlier this year the company launched element14, an online community for electronic design engineers. Just last week Premier Farnell acquired Cadsoft Computer, an electronic design software company, whose tools will be made available via the company's web site.
Congratulations to Harriet Green from 3M Electronic Solutions Division, a proud supplier to Premier Farnell.
