It is being organised by the UK Electronics Alliance in conjunction with the Electronic Component Supply Network (ECSN), Intellect and the Components Obsolescence Group (COG). The seminar kicks off at 10am and finishes at 4pm.
The organisers say the seminar will cover a range of topics including the work being undertaken by the semiconductor industry to combat counterfeit semiconductors, best practice techniques to identify counterfeit components and how the UK government is responding to the problem. Also on the agenda will be lessons learned in the pharmaceuticals industry that could benefit the electronics sector and issues and trends that will influence how the problem will affect the sector and how the sector will need to respond in the long term.
Current supplier standards and certification systems and how a coordinated approach in the UK will help suppliers and users will also be covered.
Attendance fee is £65 plus VAT or £45 plus VAT for members of (deep breath) COG, AFDEC, the National Microelectronics Institute, UK Electronics Alliance, Electronics Scotland, Welsh Electronics Forum, Intellect, JEMI, Electronics Yorkshire and ECSN.
The second half of this double header is the ECSN/AFDEC dinner at the same hotel. It's a great opportunity to hear from Mark Larson, president of Digi-Key, one of the most successful component distributors in the past few years. He will deliver his personal insights and Digi-Key's perspective on developments in the international electronic components market.
