Avnet Abacus, the IP&E specialist launched by Avnet earlier this month has made its first signing under the new branding.
It has agreed a pan-European distribution deal with Schurter Electronic Components. Arriving in the Avnet Abacus product portfolio are Schurter's ranges of fuses, fuseholders, non-resettable fuses and IEC connectors.
"We are convinced that through Avnet Abacus we can enhance our position in the European market place," commented Hans-Rudolf Schurter (pictured), chairman of the Schurter Group.
Added Alan Jermyn, vice president, marketing at Avnet Abacus, "Schurter products are perfectly suited to expand our portfolio, supporting us in our strategy to comprehensively assist our customers in this segment and provide them with optimal solutions."
It's getting slower Ian, but that's no excuse, well spotted!
A case of some elegant reheating from the Schurter PR people, and dodgy memory by your writer.

Is it a slow news week Mick? In January you reported that Schurter had been signed by Avnet-Time, surely it's a case of a transfer rather than a new signing!
