The Mouser Electronics line card has just got a little greener.
The company has signed a global distribution agreement with AdaptivEnergy, a supplier of energy harvesting power solutions.
Onto Mouser's shelves come the Joule Thief (clever pun, I like it) energy harvesting modules and demonstration kits and what it is described as a first-of-its-kind random vibration DC power supplies.
What does Joule Thief do? Well it scavenges and converts ambient mechanical energy, such as vibration and impact events, into a standard DC voltage output. The energy harvesters are renewable, green power supplies that constantly recharge themselves from the environment . The products are powering a wide range of low-power microcontrollers used in wireless and active RFID applications.
Welcoming AdaptivEnergy to the Mouser camp Mike Scott, vice president active products observed, "They offer unique energy harvesting products that allow our engineering customers to create remotely-powered applications that are powered from environmentally available energy sources that have typically been wasted in the past."
"Mouser provides a quick a&nd easy means of supply to design engineers to test and become familiar with AdaptivEnergy's technology. They have a reputation within the industry for being aggressive with stocking and quickly delivering avant-garde technologies."
