Here's a good news story. Webro, a UK-based distributor of coaxial cable and connectors is expanding.
The company which is based in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire is investing upwards of £500,000 to expand its headquarters, adding 40 per cent more floor space, and crucially creating new jobs.
The facility will cover 2,700 sq. metres encompassing more office space and increased warehouse space to stock the company's full range of cables. Wisely, given the increased price of copper, the company has also invested in extra security at the facility.
Managing director Roger Webster commented, "The factory extension was very much an efficiency move for us. We used to have to spend hundreds of pounds each month storing our pallets off site, now we have our own factory space we can store everything securely ourselves and reduce overheads and transportation costs."
The company's turnover has risen 20 per cent in the past 12 months on the back of increased demand for approved copper coaxial cables to meet Digital and HD specification and the growing need for fibre optic cables.
The company has recently won contracts to supply cable and connectors to Wembley Stadium, the London Underground network and the London Olympics 2012 project. It is also the sole UK supplier to Sky TV.
Among Webro's suppliers are Belden, Cabelcon and TKF.
Seen outside the expanded facility are l to r Peter Edginton, projects director, Andy Watts, marketing director, both Webro, Jeff Parr, partner, UHY Hacker Young which provided Webro with strategic advice and Roger Webster, managing director of Webro.
