Never be shy about celebrating anniversaries. That's a golden rule which Farnell is observing faithfully.
As you may know the venerable component distributor is in its 70th year of business, a phenomenal feat. It wanted customers to share in the fun so earlier this week it staged a Customer Day at its Leeds headquarter. Customers and suppliers were invited and enjoyed a day of fun and the more serious pursuit of education.
Technical seminars and product training sessions were held throughout the day and attendees were also taken on a tour of the Maybrook Distribution Centre.
The day was also a showcase for 15 of Farnell's suppliers including test and measurement giants Agilent and Tektronix alongside components suppliers Vishay and Murata.
Alan Patterson, general manager, UK and Ireland who was mein host for the day commented, "Farnell has witnessed and been an integral part of the huge evolution of the electronics industry over the past 70 years.
Patterson is seen above on the left demonstrating Farnell's newly launched element14 web site to two visitors from Freescale Semiconductor.
By the way, Farnell is in good company. 1939 is also the year Hewlett-Packard was founded, and another long time favourite, the movie 'Gone With The Wind', was premiered in New York.
