Intel and its partners launched a marketing blitzkrieg here at the Embedded World show in Nuremberg to leave visitors in no doubt the company aims to make its mark in every nook and cranny of the embedded market.
Threeembedded board manufacturers, Advantech, Kontron and MSC Vertriebs hosted briefings on new products based around devices in the Atom family. Advantech's new board isbased on the Intel Atom Z510P launched the previous day by the chip maker, and the two companies will be chasing into the low power arena where they will butt heads with the Arm Cortex processor and its cohorts; it will be an intriguing battle, though it has to be said Intel won the publicity campaign at Embedded World hands down.
Intel’s Jonathan Walsh, general manager, of Intel Embedded Lab Europe, and a 14-year veteran in the embedded market said the interest in the latest Atom processors has been higher than any other processors in the family. “We have 1000 customer engagements on the Atom processor. in Europe," he told a press briefing.
