Mouser Electronics, the Texas-based catalogue and online distributor has continued its roll-out into the European market place.
It has opened a new office in the UK which will handle customer sales and support for the UK, Ireland, the Nordic Countries and South Africa. The company will be based ay High Wycombe, in offices alongside TTI, its sister company in The Berkshire Hathaway Group. Initially there will be a team of four headed by Melissa Nightingale, who has been recruited from outside the distribution industry. She has undergone extensive training at Mouser's Mansfield, Texas headquarters before taking up the post.
She reports to Mark Burr-Lonnon (pictured), Mouser's vice president for Europe. To coincide with the opening Mouser has developed a local web site which will show prices in pounds sterling.
Burr-Lonnon is certain local offices are the way forward. "European customers can always access our centre in Texas, but it's not quite the same. Engineers in the UK or Germany like to talk to local people."
Mouser's aggressive expansion will continue in 2009, with offices slated for France and East Europe, the latter most likely in the Czech Republic town of Brno.
