The Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg is exactly a month away (and just as well its wasn't starting today otherwise nobody in the UK would have made it) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7864395.stm
The distribution fraternity is limbering up its latest products for the parade and Future Electronics will be featuring its Dart board. Not the type you throw arrows at, of course. This is actually an evaluation kit, so I've cheated a touch here, to prototype touch sensing or proximity sensing designs.
The kit includes a board which features a CY8C21434 PSoC device from Cypress Semiconductor, a slider control, indicator LEDs and a buzzer and a USB interface for connecting to a PC. Future supplies fully featured versions of Cypress's PSoC designer development tools as part of the kit.
The distributor has also preloaded demonstration Capsense capacitive sensing technology programmes. Users can study and modify these demonstrations or use the development tools to implement their own designs from scratch.
The Dart kit can also be used as a platform for developing other mixed-signal applications running on the Cypress CY8C21434 PSoC IC. Spare I/O pins are brought out on a connector, allowing designers to use the PSoC's programmable blocks to implement a wide range of signal conditioning, conversion and controller functions.
