An alternative to FPGAs and ASICs is to be distributed by Acal Technology in the UK and Ireland as well as the Benelux and Iberia regions.
The deal is with eASIC which supplies zero mask charge ASIC devices offering low power consumption and low unit cost compared with standard FPGAs and a zero-mask charge, fast turnaround to that associated with standard cell ASICs.
Under the agreement, Acal will supply design-in, technical, sales and logistical support to the embedded systems designers likely to be attracted to these devices.
Matt Ready, vice president, worldwide sales at eASIC commented, "eASIC Nextreme zero mask-charge ASIC devices can cost as little as 20 per cent of an FPGA." He also claims the devices consume 20 per cent of the power of an FPGA and perform up to three times faster.
"Add to this a growing IP portfolio and you have an exciting proposition for UK designers in these tough economic times. Many designers are looking at cost reducing existing FPGA designs," he added.
According to Acal Technology's director of marketing, DavidRyan, "the eASIC products complement our existing lines and offer us an opportunity to capture a broader range of designs in low power, low cost and high volume applications."
Acal already distributes the products in Germany, France and Italy.
