We will need to add a D to the IP&E tag which precedes the name of TTI. It's not for Dennehy, Glyn of that name, TTI's Senior Vice President and General Manager, as good a job as he has done.
In fact maybe a DD would be more appropriate as Dennehy (pictured) talked about adding discrete components to the TTI line card and Delphi Connection Systems Power Pack products to its connector portfolio.
The discrete move is interesting given TTI's specialisations in passive, e-mech and interconnecto components. "The company has been looking at growth opportunities," commented Dennehy. "So we entered the discretes market, we feel we know how to sell these products."
The Vishay discrete products portfolio will be the first on the European market. TTI already sells Vishay's passive component products.
"We will go with Vishay first and then bring in one or two more lines to balance the business," said Dennehy. The new venture will boast a Business Development Manager and a specialist team.
The Delphi deal gives TTI a stronger hand in the transportation market, so much so that a business unit has been created to attack that market. Dennehy identifies agricultural vehicles and industrial vehicles such as fork lift trucks among the target applications. He currently has a Director scoping out the European market.
