The deadline is approaching. The European Union's environmental legislation that will require manufacturers to register chemicals used in products sold in the EU comes into force on December 1.
There is still time for any electronics manufacturer or distributor come to that which buys its own chemicals to pre-register. The pre-registration form is reasonably simple and just requires companies to list the chemicals being used and the amount being used. Completing the pre-registration form staves off the nightmare scenario of being banned from using chemicals and end users could be banned from selling any product containing the chemicals.
It's also worth noting that the EU is smartening up its act to police its own regulations and is planning cross-border co-operation between member states. You have been warned.
