In a shock move, distribution industry veteran Nick Jefferies has been named as the new chief executive at Acal plc. Two weeks ago Jefferies was present on the RS Components stand at electronica.
The 42-year old fills the vacancy left in August when Tony Laughton left the company. Jefferies joins from Electrocomponents where he was Global Head of Electronics overseeing the Group's electronics business including that in RS Components. Prior to that he held senior executive positions during 11n years at Arrow Electronics where he became Managing Director of the Nordic Region.
Jefferies has also worked for Hitachi's semiconductor business (now called Renesas).
"We look forward to Acal being led by a strategically focused chief executive with substantial in-depth knowledge of our industry."
