Farnell is to stock and sell Altera FPGA and CPLD products in Europe. The deal comes just weeks after the companies agreed a partnership to cover Asia/Pacific.
It is the first time Altera's products have been made available through a high service distributor outside North America.
"We didn't know what we were missing," conceded Barry Ansell, Distribution Marketing Manager for Altera. "Then we undertook a development board promotion with Farnell and it opened our eyes to what they can do."
Ansell pointed to Farnell's armoury of web and online marketing tools and white papers and the suppor t they give design engineers.
"It's difficult for an engineer to buy a FPGA without some technical interchange, and this enables them to get their questions answered easily," he added.
Stock will be held locally at Farnell warehouses and Farnell will also offer a full complement of Altera development kits.
