The methods used by distributors to offer engineers access to the latest technology they are touting continue to proliferate. The latest company off the blocks is Nu Horizons Electronics.
It has launched a program called LabCam which is an an online video research center that is accessible from its website at www.nuhorizons.com/labcam
Is it a marketing tool? Absolutely as all these what shall we call them, educational programs are, but the distributors are recognising an engineer these days is usually in a hurry. So if you can design a product which they can access without budging from their desk, you are in good shape.
According to Nu Horizons, LabCam delivers fast, concise introductions to the latest technology from it's component suppliers which include Linear Technology, Atmel and Renesas.
In the manner of YouTube, engineers can load and watch videos from industry leaders consisting of insights on products, evaluation kit overviews, end-user applications and more. Each tutorial is up to ten minutes in length and features technology experts, CEOs and/or peers introducing new solutions or explaining integral aspects of an important product, solution or application. And if engineers can't find what they want on the menu, they can drop a line to Nu Horizons submitting potential topic suggestions for future video seminars to Nu Horizons.
First up on LabCam are a series of videos onLED Lighting applications presented by Osram Opto Semiconductor and OptoElectronix.
