Not the worse week for one current Arrow employee and a former staffer.
First up is Brian McNally who has been promoted to President of Arrow's Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America (EMEASA if you can't manage that mouthful). Clearly a man who won't accept a job unless there are at least seven words in the title he was previously (deep breath) President, Global Alliance and Supply Chain Solutions. I have to say the new job sounds more interesting. Apart from being great news for McNally's Air Miles account, it is a worthy promotion. McNally is, as we Londoners say, "a top bloke". He headed Arrow in north Europe some years back based at Arrow's Bedford, UK HQ. He did a terrific job and he had a hard act to follow - Harriet Green, now CEO of Premier Farnell.
Speaking of whom. Green has just been elected to the board of directors at Emerson, the process automation company. It's a savvy move by the St. Louis-based outfit as they get a director with experience in all the major market regions. Green's stint with Arrow in north Europe was followed by a move to Arrow's north American business where she headed up global product marketing before heading east to be president of its Asia/Pacific operations.
Green will serve on Emerson's audit committee. Whether her degree in medieval history from London University covered the Inquisition I don't know. If it did the audit committee had better watch out.
