What you need to know and more likely what you din't know you needed to know can all be found in a humdinger of a comprehensive report on global distribution.
It is called World-Wide Electronic Component Distribution Report 2008, and I think it's key advantage over any other reports is that it is written by people who have a deep involvement with the electronic component industry.
The markets in 231 countries are covered in the report, including the US, all the major European markets, the emerging east European markets, Japan and China too. There is a wealth of information for each country including the Distributors Total Available Market (DTAM) split down into semiconductors, passive components and electromechanical components. There is a summary of key events and a breakdown of key companies in each market. Uniquely it also inspects the suppliers' policies in support of distribution as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Company market share is there and compared with previous years.
In Europe there is a specific focus on distributors becoming more and more involved in the design-in of products on behalf of manufacturers, even when production will take place in another country, and how that has affected distribution strategy amongst the suppliers.
The report is published by Europartners. For more information e-mail enquiries@europartners.eu.com
