Is there a reason for the enormous variety of software test solutions for automotive bus communication? There might be a connection to the similarly enormous variety of combinations of test system functions that the particular component supplier provides. Therefore, the required test sequencers are not only rather unique but also quite expensive – a win-win situation for both sides, but someone has to pay the bill. If there is a sinister scheme behind this, it might just come to an end soon.
Goepel Electronic has developed an interactive ECU communication for Test and Diagnosis, called
myCAR.
With myCAR the test system vendor introduces a software suite for the handling of engine control units (ECU). The hardware independent application encompasses all common communication interfaces. For instance, it’s possible to work in a
CAN network, simulate a
LIN participant and establish a
MOST data channel. The software tool can be configured according to customer requirements and extended at any time. Using an API abstraction layer at driver level, it can handle nearly all interface devices, thus users may easily change to a different hardware platform during changing edge conditions.
At the start of the myCAR system, all software components are loaded and all available information from the hardware explorer’s set-up applied to initialize the hardware. It utilises assigned logical interfaces that can optionally be routed to different devices/interfaces.
Complex tasks e.g. CAN remaining bus simulation, are implemented via menu items where they are configured and executed by means of a “smart” macro. This means that a comprehensive remaining bus simulation is available by a simple sequence of commands in compressed format. The advantage is that the smart macro library does not require complicated interfaces, and complex connections are displayed by simple components (smart macros). Therefore it is now possible to import, translate and play sequences from Goepel Electronic’s ProgramGenerator.

It is great thing because before send the car on road, it will be tested.
