Osram Opto Semiconductors has added a low-cost, high-power ceramic version to its range of LEDs intended for the front-light clusters of mid-range vehicles as daytime lighting. the high-power ceramic component is available in two versions: the MX ECE and the less powerful SX ECE. Both are tailor-made to meet the demands of the aut
omotive industry and can be installed in headlight systems or incorporated in fenders of bumpers as inidividual lights. The 3x3mm LEDs offer a light output of 70 to 95lm and can be operated at temperatures of up to +150°C.
For manufacturers looking for a 0.5W solution, the SX ECE has the same dimensions and thermal stability as the MX version and offers a light output of 40 to 60lm. Their dimensions enable the LEDs to be integrated in small, low-profile designs.
The development of headlights in the auto industry has improved much. The betterment and safety of the drivers have increase since then.
